Shibori is a manual resist technique which produces patterns.

In this workshop, we will explore several methods for patterns utilizing cotton twine with silk organza and scouring with soda ash. The exposed fabric will remove the protein of the silk worm, thus creating the pattern. This enables the dye to exhibit variations of color depending on the pattern in the fabric. Then we will explore three dying techniques; an immersion with one color, additional resist with an overlay of a second color and a “free-flowing” technique using multiple colors.
