About Melelani

Melelani Perry is a talented young adult with Down Syndrome. Melelani was born in St. Louis on October 4, 1978. She has been creating art for several years. She participated in numerous group shows in and around the St. Louis area including a solo exhibition in 2011 as well as a one-woman pop-up holiday show. In 2013 and 2015, Melelani had booths selling her artwork at Schlafly Brewery's Art Outside . In 2013 Melelani participated in a group show at Washington University, and that same year had a booth selling her artwork at the Soulard Art Fair. In 2014 Melelani's work was featured in a show with several other artists, curated by VSA, at the Regional Arts Commission. Melelani's work was recently shown by the Art of Giving Show, sponsored by the Will Flores Fund as well as a recent exhibition at the Lillian Yahn Gallery in O'Fallon Missouri.

Melelani lives at home in Maplewood with her mother, father, and younger brother. In addition to her artistic activities, Melelani takes bellydancing classes at the Mid-County YMCA, works as a kitchen assistant at the Living Room Coffee House in Maplewood, Missouri, and is an active member of Weight Watchers.
